Why this balm?

Why this balm?

One jar, minimal routine, and lots of time to enjoy your life!

Most face creams are around 70% water, held together with emulsifiers and preservatives. Face the Beast is 100% fat: the most nourishing part, without the filler.

  • Nourishes dry, tight and stressed skin
  • Supports a strong, healthy skin barrier
  • Melts in without leaving a greasy shine
  • Replaces your moisturiser, night cream and serum. One jar, done.

Pure or scented?

Pure is just tallow, jojoba, beeswax and vitamin E. Four ingredients, nothing else. Perfect for sensitive skin, or if you simply don’t want anything extra. Smells a bit like butter.

Rosemary & Sweet Orange adds a few drops of organic essential oils, for a fresh scent that wakes you up.

Ingredients

Grass-fed tallow from Dutch cattle grazing in nature reserves. Rich in fats that closely resemble your skin’s own oils, so your skin knows exactly what to do with it.

Organic jojoba oil is technically a wax, and very similar to your skin’s natural sebum. It makes the balm smooth and easy to spread.

Organic beeswax forms a breathable, protective layer that helps keep moisture in.

Vitamin E (tocopherol) is a natural antioxidant from plant oil that keeps the balm fresh for longer.

Rosemary  & Sweet Orange version only: a few drops of organic essential oils of sweet orange and rosemary.

Handmade in small batches, so colour and texture can vary slightly from jar to jar.

Directions

Take a pea-sized amount and don't overthink it, just rub it on! Preferably on clean, slightly damp skin, morning and/or evening. Less is more: start small and add only if your skin asks for it. If your skin does not absorb all, use a little less.

Good to know

  • For external use only.
  • The balm may soften in warmth and firm up again. That’s completely natural. Store below 30 degrees, or it will melt.

FAQ

You ask, we answer.
  • From Dutch grass-fed cattle that live in social herds in nature reserves, grazing outdoors without antibiotics or supplemental feed. They’re there to keep the landscape healthy, not for mass meat production. A cow is only taken out when the herd needs it to stay in natural balance.

  • The Pure version has a sweet buttery scent that you could relate back to beef. Most of us like it, because it also kind of smells like milkshake. It’s gone within a minute anyway.

The Sweet Orange & Rosemary version just smells freshzzz.

  • Tallow is a very stable fat, and a little vitamin E keeps it fresh. Store it cool and dry, use clean hands, and use it within 12–24 months.

  • Plant oils are lovely, but they’re built differently from our skin. Tallow closely resembles the fats your own skin makes, which is why it absorbs so well. And vegan doesn’t automatically mean better. Many vegan balms are a long list of oils and butters from all over the world, grown and processed in ways that are hard to trace. Some of those ingredients are also common triggers for sensitive skin. Face the Beast keeps it short: Dutch tallow from cattle we know, plus a handful of organic ingredients. Fewer ingredients, fewer surprises.

  • Often, yes. Oily skin is sometimes skin that’s overcompensating after too much cleansing. A thin layer of fat can help it find its balance. Use less than you think you need.

  • For most people, no. Tallow is low on the comedogenic scale. Every skin is different though, so start with a tiny amount and see how your skin responds. If you have skin that is very sensitive to pore clogging, fat might be too much for you - make sure to use our free tester first!
