BLESS THE BABY TALLOW BALM | 60ml

The natural alternative to zinc ointment. A soft, breathable balm for baby bottoms, cheeks and skin folds.
  • 94% Organic
  • Non-nano zinc oxide
  • Mimics skin’s natural oils
  • No essential oils
Why this balm?

Zinc ointment, without the petroleum.

Most zinc ointments are built on petroleum jelly or paraffin, both made from crude oil. They protect against moisture, but sit on the skin like a plastic layer and add nothing to it. Bless the Baby does the same job with organic ingredients your baby’s skin recognises, because they mimic the skin's natural lipids.

  • Protects against moisture and friction at every nappy change
  • Calms redness and irritation
  • Nourishes cheeks, skin folds and dry patches
  • Spreads easily, even with one hand free
  • Doesn't leave everything white with zinc.

Why tallow?

Grass-fed tallow is rich in fats that closely resemble the natural oils in your baby’s skin. It nourishes deeply without leaving a greasy film, and lets the skin breathe.

Why no essential oils?

Essential oils smell lovely, but they’re among the most common causes of irritation, especially on young, sensitive skin. So we left them out. The soft scent comes from calendula and chamomile extract. Our extracts are CO2-extracted, because we don’t compromise on quality.

Why non-nano zinc?

Non-nano means the particles are too large to be absorbed into the skin. They stay on the surface, where they belong, forming a gentle barrier. Ours is uncoated too, so there’s no chemical layer around it.

Made by us, not by a factory abroad

Handmade in the Netherlands from the tallow of Dutch grass-fed cattle grazing in nature reserves. Locally Made certified.

Ingredients

Ingredients:
100% grass-fed & finished beef tallow
from Dutch cattle & organic jojoba oil are recognized by the body as skin-identical. They nourish and protect the skin without affecting the natural bacterial balance or skin barrier.

Non-nano zinc oxide (uncoated) is a natural mineral that protects and soothes the skin. It forms a gentle barrier against moisture, irritation, and friction. Uncoated means there is no chemical layer on it; non-nano means the particles are too large to be absorbed into the skin.

Organic beeswax provides a breathable, protective layer and is known for its healing, softening, and antibacterial effects.

Organic Calendula and Chamomile extracts help soothe and care for the skin. CO2 extraction is the purest and most precious form of plant extraction, ensuring all valuable substances are preserved. This gives the balm its lovely scent and color.

A little bit of Vitamin E (tocopherol) is a completely natural antioxidant from plant oil. It’s good for the skin and ensures the balm stays good longer.

This jar is made by hand and with love. Because of this, slight variations in color and substance may occur. A sign of artisanal quality!

Directions

How to use Bless the Baby

Bottoms: Clean the skin and let it dry well (pat, don’t rub). Apply a thin layer at every nappy change. The zinc oxide and beeswax form a breathable barrier against moisture and friction.

Cheeks, skin folds and dry patches: Warm a small amount between your fingertips and gently massage in. Lovely after bath time, or before a walk in cold or windy weather.

You can also use this balm on your own hands or face.

How much? Really just a little is enough. But you also can't overdo it. One jar lasts a long time!

Good to know

  • For external use only. Keep away from the eyes and don’t apply to open wounds.
  • Patch test on a small area first. Stop using it if any redness or irritation appears.
  • Contains calendula and chamomile. Don’t use if you or your little one is allergic to plants of the daisy family.
  • The flower residue might leave some orange residue, which washes out well.
  • Store in room temperature, dry and out of reach of children. The balm may soften in the heat and firm up again when cool. That’s completely natural. You can still use the balm bbut after it’s been heated up, the texture may look a little different. It's best to keep it under 30 degrees at all times. If it's heated up longer or more regularly, the balm may go off. Smelling it is the best indicator.

FAQ

You ask, we answer.
  • Fair question. But here’s a funny thing: most baby ointments are made with petroleum jelly, a by-product of crude oil. Somehow that feels normal, while animal fat feels scary. But grass-fed tallow is the opposite: a natural fat that closely resembles the oils your baby’s skin makes itself. No essential oils, no perfume, and independently safety assessed.

Always do a small patch test first.

  • Nope. It has a soft, calming scent from calendula and chamomile extract. No perfume, no essential oils.

  • Yes. The zinc does exactly what you know from regular zinc ointment: it forms a protective barrier against moisture and friction. But where most ointments stop there, Bless the Baby also nourishes. The tallow and jojoba feed the skin, and calendula and chamomile help calm redness. Protection and care in one tin.

  • Because the other 6% is zinc oxide. Zinc is a mineral from the earth, not something that’s grown or farmed, so it simply can’t be certified organic. Everything that can be organic in this balm, is. We chose non-nano and uncoated zinc. Non-nano means the particles are too large to be absorbed into the skin, so they stay on the surface where they belong. Uncoated means there’s no chemical layer around them. Just the pure mineral.

  • Tallow is a very stable fat, and a little vitamin E keeps it fresh. Store it cool and dry, use clean hands, and use it within 12-24 months.

  • Because the ingredients are completely different. Petroleum jelly costs next to nothing. Grass-fed Dutch tallow, organic beeswax and CO2 extracts don’t. And with 100% active ingredients and no water, a little goes a long way: one tin lasts many people a year.

  • They’re siblings: same ingredients, different proportions. Bless the Baby has more zinc, for a stronger barrier against moisture and friction at every nappy change. Save Our Skins has less zinc and more calendula and chamomile extract, for grown-up skin that needs extra calming: dry patches, rough spots, very dry or eczema-prone skin. One tin for your baby, one for your own irritated skin.
